You never quite know what to expect when bowhunting in rough, mountain country. When the author’s buck hit the snow-covered ground, it took off like a bobsled. After sliding some 75 yards downhill, an unlucky tree finally thwarted its likely progression into no man’s land. Still, the recovery effort took nearly four hours to complete.
